Let it snow?
Let it be?
Or, to suit Malaysia's climate, let it rain?
It's been raining in the evening for the past weeks. And if you can recall Form 1 Geography, it's the monsoon changing season, or Angin Sumatera.
But, this time, it has been raining more than last year. So as other countries, where snowfall are heavy.
It's the climate change we are talking about. The weather had becoming worse and resulting, maybe casualty? (Oops, it just pop out from my mind, no offence.)
The carillon of bells are ringing (It's not Coldplay's Viva La Vida I'm talking about), the alarm bells for enviroment had been ringing for the past few years, and it will keep ringing as long as the awareness is not completely spread. The awareness of saving the enviroment.
Yes, that Saturday, you had your lights off, but is it enough? Can it really reduce the offset of carbon? If we really do reduce, why don't we do it in daily basis? Here's a link for a calculator of your carbon footprint, the footprint you leave behind that harms Mother Earth:
www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspxEarth Hour is just an activity to create awareness, it's part of the ringings of the bells. If we had woke up, we are either ready to face a new day, or just press the snooze button. We, had press the snooze button for many times, some had already woke up, while others are still sleeping in their couch, don't know what's happening out there, or pretend don't know anything.
These bells will keep ringing, and ringing, untill all of us had really wake up and face the new day. But, are we ready to stop the alarm bells?
At Earth Hour, I saw a few shops had welcome this campaign by switching off their lights, but most of them cannot do the simple job. Reason? Simple, they had customers. Customers will complain if there is no light to see, no air-conditioner to not feel hot, and etc. etc.
These customers claimed that it is because they off their lights and eletrical appliances at home and go for dinner outside. Well, some of them.
In my opinion, I think that Earth Hour not just create an awareness about the enviroment, but also an awareness to let everyone know that some who are less fortunate don't have electric facility. So, activities at Earth Hour should be less-carbon-offset and less-usage-of-electrical-appliance activities. This is purely my opinion. No offence.
These few weeks, I've been talking about enviromental issues. Don't know why, but I felt that I have the responsibility to at least spread a word to others. I felt semi-commited to save the enviroment.
